Intriguing medieval retelling of Snow White!
This retelling was super fascinating with intrigue, humor, forgiveness, and sweetness. Part one ended with so much going on that it felt like the brakes were put on starting part two. I do see the necessity for it, but it did slow things down and took a minute for me to re-engage. Friedrich is just wonderful. Honestly what that poor man was put through! There are complex characters that encourage both your rage and pity. So many bumps on this journey, it’s quite the ride! For me personally I felt it was a little long, but I couldn’t say how to make it shorter…😂 That being said (I’m about to contradict myself) I wanted to see more after the harrowing experiences of the MCs. I wanted to see the confrontation of one person and I’d like to smack another one upside the head. 😁 It’s definitely worth a read!
P.S. the author’s note at the end was fascinating. How she weaved the tale within history was awesome. My favorite was when she said, “Friedrich is entirely a work of fiction. You’re welcome.” 😂 Yes, thank you Rachel! Friedrich is a delight!
